“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” -Mahatma Gandhi
As a lifelong learner and optimistic dreamer- I have known this quote most of my life. As a teacher, ordained minister, and peace-loving freedom fighter- I have preached this quote most of my adult life. But I have not truly lived this quote- until recently.
As a sufferer of PMDD, depression, anxiety, and (after the aftermath of a hurricane, PTSD), ‘The Prospect of Peace’ began as a personal need to be content with my life and the world around me.
What started out as a year-long funk and a blind search for contentment, ended as a wake-up call and serious paradigm shift.
The Prospect of Peace is not a business, organization, or foundation (at least not yet). It is an idea- that every day, every moment can be chosen to live in peace. Maybe not happiness, as life throws us curve balls sometimes, but definitely peace. Peace towards others and peace within.
Often times it takes a serious event to help us realize how miraculous our lives really are and how wonderful the world is around us. But it’s important to remember that peace can be found in the simplest of places, if we just take the time to stop, breathe, and take it all in.
It’s never too late to have a new beginning.
I hope that you take the time today to see the beauty in yourself, others, and the world around you- and inspire others to do the same.
Life is beautiful.
Have a peaceful day, or not, the choice is yours- always.
